YUWANILKANTHA
Yubanilkantha is a program jointly organized by Budhanilkantha Municipality and Debate Network Nepal, designed to empower and educate youth from all wards of Budhanilkantha Municipality. This 16-day initiative aimed to foster understanding and analysis of various developmental aspects crucial to the municipality’s growth.
During the program, 19 aspiring youths engaged deeply in learning and analyzing policies, current status, and future possibilities across four key developmental areas. These areas likely included infrastructure, education, health, and community development among others. Participants were equipped with skills to conduct scientific social research, enabling them to delve into local issues, identify challenges, and propose viable solutions.
By the conclusion of Yubanilkantha, participants gained the ability to critically analyze problems, evaluate existing policies, and articulate their findings effectively. They were proficient in presenting well-founded arguments, backed by comprehensive research, and were capable of making informed recommendations for the municipality’s development. Yubanilkantha stands as a testament to collaborative efforts between local governance and civil society organizations like Debate Network Nepal, aiming to empower youth through education, research, and active participation in community development initiatives. This program not only enhances participants’ skills but also contributes to the sustainable growth and improvement of Budhanilkantha Municipality.
NYANO MANAVTA
Nyano Manavata was the social project formed to collect and distribute warm clothes and blankets to earthquake victims and socially disabled people of rural Nepal. This program is jointly initiated by Debate Network Nepal (DNN), Leo club of Kathmandu Balaju Height, Leo club of Kathmandu Central Town and Global Fellowship Nepal (GFN).
The main objective of Nyano Manavata is to save the life of people from thundering cold waves by providing warm clothes and blankets. Meanwhile, trainers of DNN volunteering for this humanitarian work approached schools of rural communities and trained its students on public speaking and debating.
CHAL-CHAMKILO
The “Chal Chamkilo” Shoe Polish Fundraiser is a significant initiative by Debate Network Nepal (DNN) aimed at supporting the Rural Students Empowerment Program and expanding the debate movement in Nepal. This project addresses two key aspects:
- Shoe Polish Fundraiser: This fundraising activity involves trainers and volunteers from DNN polishing shoes of passersby at stalls set up in various locations such as shopping malls and monuments across Kathmandu. The funds generated through this initiative contribute directly to sustaining the debate movement in Nepal. By engaging in this unique fundraising method, DNN not only raises necessary financial resources but also raises awareness about its programs and causes among the general public.
- Rural Students Empowerment Program: As part of the project, DNN provides debate training in five rural villages of Nepal. These villages were particularly affected by the devastating earthquake in April 2015, highlighting the organization’s commitment to supporting communities in need. The debate training sessions aim to empower rural students by equipping them with valuable communication, critical thinking, and advocacy skills. This initiative not only enhances educational opportunities but also fosters a culture of debate and intellectual engagement in rural areas.
Through the “Chal Chamkilo” initiative, Debate Network Nepal demonstrates a proactive approach to both fundraising and community empowerment, ensuring sustainability and growth in the debate movement while making a tangible difference in the lives of rural students in Nepal.
