MahaKumbha 2022 is the 9th edition of National Schools Debating Championship aiming to provide a platform for young debaters to participate in debates using the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) format. The championship is scheduled to start from 25th November to 28th November in collaboration with BVS, Naxal, Kathmandu. The four-day championship will also be the Team Nepal’s Selection tournament for WSDC 2023 to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam during late July 2023. The top 50 best debaters of the championship will be eligible to apply to become part of Nepal’s national team for WSDC 2023 in Vietnam.
Debate Network Nepal is soon announcing the full-fledged adjudication core members and other organizing team members. Each of adjudication core members shall have been an experienced adjudicator and debater with reputed international experience.
Who can participate: Grade 8-12/ A-Levels/ CBSE students. Students who have currently passed their HSEB/A-levels/CBSE or high-school equivalent are not eligible to participate as debaters. But can participate as an adjudicator in the tournament.
Event timeline:
1st Phase Registration Begins: September 25th, 2022
Registration fee: Rs. 4500 per team (Rs. 1500 per person, covers lunch and snacks for four days)
1st Phase Registration Deadline: October 31st, 2022. (The confirmation emails will be sent after the registration deadline is over.)
2nd Phase Registration Begins: November 1, 2022
Registration fee: Rs. 5000 per team (covers lunch and snacks for four days)
Note: The second phase of team registration doesn’t have a deadline as it will provided to the teams on first come, first serve basis, if there will be any slots remaining at the end of the 1st phase’s registration deadline.)

Registration fee: FREE (for both Nepali as well International Invited Adjudicators)
Note: Both International and Nepali Adjudicators will be selected as Subsidized IA on the basis of their experience and availability.
Training for the Debaters and adjudicators: Nov 25th, 2022
Group stage debates (league): Nov 26th and 27th, 2022
Out rounds and Final debates/Awards: Nov 28th, 2022.
